ABOUT THE ORGANISATION
Msichana Initiative is a registered non- governmental organization with registration number 00NGO/08380, established to advocate for girl child right to education in Tanzania. This includes addressing and finding solution for key challenges, which limit girl child right to education. The initiative seeks to ensure this inherent right is given to all human beings without due regard to gender, discrimination, economic conditions, cultural, social and political
justification. Msichana Initiative aims to impact the lives of young girls and women between the age of 10 -25.
The vision of Msichana initiative is to create a Tanzanian society where rights of girls are safeguarded and girls enjoy recognition, dignity and excel to their fullest potential
Msichana is committed to advocate for reforms of discriminatory legal frameworks and enforcement of gender-sensitive approaches through engaging girls, community and relevant stakeholders
Our Core Agenda
Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights (SRHRs)
This component seeks to educate young girls on the areas of sexual health, sexual rights,
reproductive health and reproductive rights.
Gender equality and women empowerment can be meaningfully reached if girls and women are empowered economically. This agenda seeks to build economic capacity to young girls most in need. Our aim is to create economic dependence, access to resources and protection from violence.
This is our civic engagement agenda where young girls are motivated to stand up for their rights and speak up. They are strengthened through capacity building to collectively and individually stand up and advocate for change of social, political and economic systems, which impede them from enjoying their rights. Strategic litigation falls within this component as well.
