Msichana Initiative has worked in collaboration with Children in Harmony and PPT Media (Tanzanian Based Company) to successfully conduct a pilot project called Amani in Bagamoyo District, Pwani Region. This project aimed at teaching student (girls and boys) on issues related to gender equity, empathy and emotional intelligence using music. The project was conducted in 4 Primary Schools i.e. Kidongo chekundu, Kiromo, Mbaruku, and Zinga.
Beneficiaries of the project were trained in 10 days on these issues, also they were taught on how to make music and using musical instruments, and were accompanied by Tanzania based artists (Ben Pol) later Amani Clubs were established in these school.
In Amani Clubs, students are taught how to gender equity and overcoming emotions (emotion intelligence), amongst other lessons, students are taught to use an instrument called Mood Meter assisting them to overcome emotional reactions.
Amani Clubs will help students to have a secure and safe environment for them to socialize and enhance their education, Build girls’ confidence and initiate boys to participate in school and society activities and speak against physical and emotional harm, also, to promote civic responsibilities and leadership skills.

To extend this project, all members have agreed to commence conduct this project in Arusha Region, where 4 Primary Schools have been selected, these are; Uhuru, Meru, Naura and Themi Primary Schools, a total number of 40 students will be involved in this phase, 10 students from each school.
